Coming up it will be the 20th anniversary of Bob and Sheila's PGOSA membership
Bob and Sheila Moved to BC from Manitoba in 1967. Bob retired from BC Tel and Sheila from The Province, Vancouver in 1993 after 25 years. Bob and Sheila moved to Parksville in July,1996 from White Rock. They Joined PGOSA in spring of 1997
They both volunteer with the SPCA and Canadian Cancer Society starting in 1997.
With SPCA. Bob and Sheila started by helping with their fund raising Flea Markets and for many years now, they have organized 2-3 sales a year.
Presently they do 2 large sales a year.
With the Cdn Cancer Society, Sheila started helping the Campaign Chair for their April campaign in 1997. This soon lead to working in the local Unit office, heading the April campaign for many years as President of the Unit, while continuing to help in the office until the local office was closed.
Bob helped in many ways during the annual April campaigns.
The Dales curl in both curling clubs, Parksville and Qualicum Beach, where they have also volunteered for various events, bonspiels and provincials competitions when held in these clubs. They have also curled in many PGOSA bonspiels over the years.
While with PGOSA, Sheila was Vice President, 2003-2004, President, 2004-2005 and then past president the following year. During her 19 years with PGOSA she has chaired many events like the Strawberry Tea and Fashion Shows, many Golf Tournaments (June and September), July 1st parade, many RV outings (June and September), 90’s Luncheons, Picnic in the Park, Salmon BBQ, Halloween/Octoberfest dinner/dances, Christmas dinner/dances. Worked with Chairs of Valentine’s dance and New Year’s dance.
Bob chaired the cycling group and was wine steward and helped with all the activities Ithat Sheila chaired.
Sheila says that “Our many years with PGOSA have been most rewarding with fun times. “
Parksville and PGOSA are so fortunate to have dedicated community volunteers such as Bob and Sheila Dale.
